Those Who Pass Between Fleeting Words
Those Who Pass Between Fleeting Words
O those who pass between fleeting words
Carry your names, and be gone
Rid our time of your hours, and be gone
Steal what you will from the blueness of the sea
And the sand of memory
Take what pictures you will, so that you understand
That which you never will:
How a stone from our land builds the ceiling of our sky
... From you steel and fire, from us our flesh
From you yet another tank, from us stones
From you teargas, from us rain
... As bitter dust, go where you wish, but
Do not pass between us like flying insects
... Pile your illusions in a deserted pit, and be gone
... And we have what you lack
A bleeding homeland of a bleeding people ...
It is time for you to be gone
Live wherever you like, but do not live among us
It is time for you to be gone
Die wherever you like, but do not die among us
... So leave our country
Our land, our sea
Our wheat, our salt, our wounds
Everything, and leave
The memories of memory
those who pass between fleeting words!

Russian Professor predicts breakup of the US in 2010
As if Things Weren't Bad Enough, Russian Professor Predicts End of U.S. - WSJ.com
He based the forecast on classified data supplied to him by FAPSI analysts, he says. He predicts that economic, financial and demographic trends will provoke a political and social crisis in the U.S. When the going gets tough, he says, wealthier states will withhold funds from the federal government and effectively secede from the union. Social unrest up to and including a civil war will follow. The U.S. will then split along ethnic lines, and foreign powers will move in.
California will form the nucleus of what he calls "The Californian Republic," and will be part of China or under Chinese influence. Texas will be the heart of "The Texas Republic," a cluster of states that will go to Mexico or fall under Mexican influence. Washington, D.C., and New York will be part of an "Atlantic America" that may join the European Union. Canada will grab a group of Northern states Prof. Panarin calls "The Central North American Republic." Hawaii, he suggests, will be a protectorate of Japan or China, and Alaska will be subsumed into Russia.
FUCK ISRAEL!!!! FUCK ISRAEL!!! FUCK ISRAEL!!!
BBC NEWS | Middle East | Massive Israeli air raids on Gaza
And that fucking cunt Livni Shtipi can SUCK MY COCK!! And keep Sucking it.
The raids came days after a truce with Hamas expired.
Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak said "there is a time for calm and a time for fighting, and now the time has come to fight".
But the exiled leader of Hamas, Khaled Meshaal, called for a new intifada, or uprising, against Israel, in response to the attacks.
The movement's Gaza leader, Ismail Haniyeh, said there would be no white flags and no surrender. "Palestine has never witnessed an uglier massacre," he said.
Israel hit targets across Gaza, striking in the territory's main population centres, including Gaza City in the north and the southern towns of Khan Younis and Rafah.
Mr Olmert said "we tried to avoid, and I think quite successfully, to hit any uninvolved people - we attacked only targets that are part of the Hamas organisations".
And that fucking cunt Livni Shtipi can SUCK MY COCK!! And keep Sucking it.

Samuel P. Huntington of Harvard Dies at 81 - The Caucus Blog - NYTimes.com
Michael Ignatieff summarized the thrust of Mr. Huntington’s 1996 book in a Times book review:
Edward Said's rebuttal:
Michael Ignatieff summarized the thrust of Mr. Huntington’s 1996 book in a Times book review:
In expanding the Foreign Affairs article into ”The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order,” Mr. Huntington has thickened out his argument, but it remains controversial. If there are seven or eight world civilizations, he says, the West had better shed the hubristic notion that its civilization is destined to spread its values across the globe. The West is ”unique” — but its values are not universal. Universalism, Mr. Huntington maintains, is just a leftover from imperialism. Western aid workers have no business telling the Afghan Taliban to allow their women to go to school. Washington has no business tying human rights conditions to its trade with China. It is a significant change of heart for a former architect of American policy in Vietnam to assert that ”Western intervention in the affairs of other civilizations is probably the single most dangerous source of instability and potential global conflict in a multicivilizational world.”
Edward Said's rebuttal:
The basic paradigm of West versus the rest (the cold war opposition reformulated) remained untouched, and this is what has persisted, often insidiously and implicitly, in discussion since the terrible events of September 11. The carefully planned and horrendous, pathologically motivated suicide attack and mass slaughter by a small group of deranged militants has been turned into proof of Huntington's thesis. Instead of seeing it for what it is--the capture of big ideas (I use the word loosely) by a tiny band of crazed fanatics for criminal purposes--international luminaries from former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi have pontificated about Islam's troubles, and in the latter's case have used Huntington's ideas to rant on about the West's superiority, how "we" have Mozart and Michelangelo and they don't. (Berlusconi has since made a halfhearted apology for his insult to "Islam.")

Zardari given enough rope to hang himself ?
Zardari given enough rope to hang himself:
And don't forget that Uncle Sam, mysteriously, WOULD NOT deal with anyone BUT Zardari! Fishy?
Here are the top 10 things Shaheen Sehbai think will sink Zardari:
"What has happened is that in extraordinary turbulent circumstances, the Zardari Group of the PPP has taken over the party, out-manoeuvring the others through opportunities created by circumstances followed up cleverly by a web of deceit, chicanery and in some specific cases simple lies and cheating. Taking full advantage, Zardari formed a group of his cronies who had nothing to do with the PPP or its politics for years. Who could imagine that Rehman Malik, Farooq Naek, Babar Awan, Salman Farooqi, Husain Haqqani, Hussain Haroon, Dr Asim, Dr Soomro, Riaz Laljee, Siraj Shamsuddin, Zulfikar Mirza, Agha Siraj Durrani and many other smaller but tainted friends and associates of Mr Zardari would suddenly take over every important position and start calling the shots?"
And don't forget that Uncle Sam, mysteriously, WOULD NOT deal with anyone BUT Zardari! Fishy?
Here are the top 10 things Shaheen Sehbai think will sink Zardari:
1. Failure to show any enthusiasm to track down Benazir’s killers. The mysterious and tragic apathy shown by him towards her assassination is a sore in every heart. The top PPP leadership every evening sits in cosy drawing rooms and speaks in derisory language about what he is doing and how.
2. Failure to support the judiciary sacked by Musharraf and adopting a hostile attitude towards Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. He lost the chance to build grand support.
3. Unnecessary and grossly counter-productive support shown for Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar.
4. Failure to make any move towards repealing the 17th Amendment and strengthening parliament. In fact, he has taken the system to a super-presidential model with a prime minister now cribbing regularly about his lack of powers.
5. Betraying his political coalition partners by refusing to follow the Charter of Democracy and cheating them with false promises.
6. Opening himself and his party to blackmail by smaller coalition parties to an extent that the entire government has become a hostage, thus unable to take any major initiative.
7. Boasting about his capacity to get economic and financial aid from the so-called friends of Pakistan, making repeated visits to world capitals and finally, opting for the most damaging and least acceptable option of going to the IMF, thus admitting failure.
8. Keeping petty political bickering alive in Punjab through a nonsensical presence of Governor Salman Taseer, a Musharraf appointee.
9. Turning into a widely disliked person in Pakistan within months by letting Musharraf go scot-free and adopting all his sins and drawbacks.
10. Humiliating and then forcing loyal PPP leaders into submission.

Mr. Jinnah's Address to the Constituent Assembly
August 11, 1947
Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen!
I cordially thank you, with the utmost sincerity, for the honour you have conferred upon me - the greatest honour that is possible to confer - by electing me as your first President. I also thank those leaders who have spoken in appreciation of my services and their personal references to me. I sincerely hope that with your support and your co-operation we shall make this Constituent Assembly an example to the world. The Constituent Assembly has got two main functions to perform. The first is the very onerous and responsible task of framing the future constitution of Pakistan and the second of functioning as a full and complete sovereign body as the Federal Legislature of Pakistan. We have to do the best we can in adopting a provisional constitution for the Federal Legislature of Pakistan. You know really that not only we ourselves are wondering but, I think, the whole world is wondering at this unprecedented cyclonic revolution which has brought about the clan of creating and establishing two independent sovereign Dominions in this sub-continent. As it is, it has been unprecedented; there is no parallel in the history of the world. This mighty sub-continent with all kinds of inhabitants has been brought under a plan which is titanic, unknown, unparalleled. And what is very important with regards to it is that we have achieved it peacefully and by means of an evolution of the greatest possible character.
Dealing with our first function in this Assembly, I cannot make any well-considered pronouncement at this moment, but I shall say a few things as they occur to me. The first and the foremost thing that I would like to emphasize is this: remember that you are now a sovereign legislative body and you have got all the powers. It, therefore, places on you the gravest responsibility as to how you should take your decisions. The first observation that I would like to make is this: You will no doubt agree with me that the first duty of a government is to maintain law and order, so that the life, property and religious beliefs of its subjects are fully protected by the State.
The second thing that occurs to me is this: One of the biggest curses from which India is suffering - I do not say that other countries are free from it, but, I think our condition is much worse - is bribery and corruption. That really is a poison. We must put that down with an iron hand and I hope that you will take adequate measures as soon as it is possible for this Assembly to do so.
Black-marketing is another curse. Well, I know that blackmarketeers are frequently caught and punished. Judicial sentences are passed or sometimes fines only are imposed. Now you have to tackle this monster, which today is a colossal crime against society, in our distressed conditions, when we constantly face shortage of food and other essential commodities of life. A citizen who does black-marketing commits, I think, a greater crime than the biggest and most grievous of crimes. These blackmarketeers are really knowing, intelligent and ordinarily responsible people, and when they indulge in black-marketing, I think they ought to be very severely punished, because the entire system of control and regulation of foodstuffs and essential commodities, and cause wholesale starvation and want and even death.
The next thing that strikes me is this: Here again it is a legacy which has been passed on to us. Along with many other things, good and bad, has arrived this great evil, the evil of nepotism and jobbery. I want to make it quite clear that I shall never tolerate any kind of jobbery, nepotism or any any influence directly of indirectly brought to bear upon me. Whenever I will find that such a practice is in vogue or is continuing anywhere, low or high, I shall certainly not countenance it.
I know there are people who do not quite agree with the division of India and the partition of the Punjab and Bengal. Much has been said against it, but now that it has been accepted, it is the duty of everyone of us to loyally abide by it and honourably act according to the agreement which is now final and binding on all. But you must remember, as I have said, that this mighty revolution that has taken place is unprecedented. One can quite understand the feeling that exists between the two communities wherever one community is in majority and the other is in minority. But the question is, whether it was possible or practicable to act otherwise than what has been done, A division had to take place. On both sides, in Hindustan and Pakistan, there are sections of people who may not agree with it, who may not like it, but in my judgement there was no other solution and I am sure future history will record is verdict in favour of it. And what is more, it will be proved by actual experience as we go on that was the only solution of India's constitutional problem. Any idea of a united India could never have worked and in my judgement it would have led us to terrific disaster. Maybe that view is correct; maybe it is not; that remains to be seen. All the same, in this division it was impossible to avoid the question of minorities being in one Dominion or the other. Now that was unavoidable. There is no other solution. Now what shall we do? Now, if we want to make this great State of Pakistan happy and prosperous, we should wholly and solely concentrate on the well-being of the people, and especially of the masses and the poor. If you will work in co-operation, forgetting the past, burying the hatchet, you are bound to succeed. If you change your past and work together in a spirit that everyone of you, no matter to what community he belongs, no matter what relations he had with you in the past, no matter what is his colour, caste or creed, is first, second and last a citizen of this State with equal rights, privileges, and obligations, there will be on end to the progress you will make.
I cannot emphasize it too much. We should begin to work in that spirit and in course of time all these angularities of the majority and minority communities, the Hindu community and the Muslim community, because even as regards Muslims you have Pathans, Punjabis, Shias, Sunnis and so on, and among the Hindus you have Brahmins, Vashnavas, Khatris, also Bengalis, Madrasis and so on, will vanish. Indeed if you ask me, this has been the biggest hindrance in the way of India to attain the freedom and independence and but for this we would have been free people long long ago. No power can hold another nation, and specially a nation of 400 million souls in subjection; nobody could have conquered you, and even if it had happened, nobody could have continued its hold on you for any length of time, but for this. Therefore, we must learn a lesson from this. You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place or worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the State. As you know, history shows that in England, conditions, some time ago, were much worse than those prevailing in India today. The Roman Catholics and the Protestants persecuted each other. Even now there are some States in existence where there are discriminations made and bars imposed against a particular class. Thank God, we are not starting in those days. We are starting in the days where there is no discrimination, no distinction between one community and another, no discrimination between one caste or creed and another. We are starting with this fundamental principle that we are all citizens and equal citizens of one State. The people of England in course of time had to face the realities of the situation and had to discharge the responsibilities and burdens placed upon them by the government of their country and they went through that fire step by step. Today, you might say with justice that Roman Catholics and Protestants do not exist; what exists now is that every man is a citizen, an equal citizen of Great Britain and they are all members of the Nation.
Now I think we should keep that in front of us as our ideal and you will find that in course of time Hindus would cease to be Hindus and Muslims would cease to be Muslims, not in the religious sense, because that is the personal faith of each individual, but in the political sense as citizens of the State.
Well, gentlemen, I do not wish to take up any more of your time and thank you again for the honour you have done to me. I shall always be guided by the principles of justice and fairplay without any, as is put in the political language, prejudice or ill-will, in other words, partiality or favouritism. My guiding principle will be justice and complete impartiality, and I am sure that with your support and co-operation, I can look forward to Pakistan becoming one of the greatest nations of the world.
I have received a message from the United States of America addressed to me. It reads:
I have the honour to communicate to you, in Your Excellency's capacity as President of the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan, the following message which I have just received from the Secretary of State of the United States:
On the occasion of of the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly for Pakistan, I extend to you and to the members of the Assembly, the best wishes of the Government and the people of the United States for the successful conclusion of the great work you are about to undertake.

A few things we need to do
- We need internal grass roots democracy in our political parties and it is the special duty of the parties to educate the people on how democracy works by example instead of just CROWING about it in speeches.
- We need specific changes in public school syllabuses with special emphasis on civic sense and civic duties (something that has been taken out at the behest of the americans and that has caused the near dissolution of our society).
- We need changes in the Military Acadmies and change the ethics of our officers. They need to understand that:
- Chain of command starts at the Prime Minister
- Sovereignty of the People extends over the Army.
- Emergency rule can only be by parliament.
- toppling the elected govt. is TREASON
- Chain of command starts at the Prime Minister

Wham, Bam, Thank you Imam
NOTE: This post was prompted by a post by @nota on pkpolitics who reminded the audience about my utter hatred for the failure of the jurnaili-culture that exists in our armed forces. I am not against the Military or Defense, but I'm vehemently against the military's shennanigans especially that of the top brass who think they "OWN" this country called Pakistan and can play whatever game they want to play with it. NO NO NO!
here is the excerpt from my comment to @nota on this particualr topic (btw we're on the same page on this... as he points out in his comment right after teh collection of quotes)
Re: what I've had to say about Jurnails, I still stand by it and I don't think any of my statements can be characterized as a 'change of stance'.
First of all thanks for collecting my excellent and most quotable thoughts in one place. I do hope you took the time to quote me properly and didn't do a lazy job like the last time when you misled other venerable posters into thinking I said all that in one paragraph. :)
Moving on...
My problem is with the institution itself and the most visible symptom of that is the leadership in our military and that relates directly back to the system of education & indoctrination that does not take into account the constitutional role of armed forces and their obligations towards the constitution.
Obviously, none of this bothered 'the beardos" all the time they were being used by this very same corrupt military like re-usable condoms, because the two had a rather "intimate" (some say incestuous) relationship.
It is in the catastrophic breakdown of this relationship that we see scorned beardo's finding catharsis in taking dead-bodies out of graves and pissing on them and hanging them in public. And their cyber-cohorts, venerable posters like the ones we see in action on this thread do the same "virtually". Not satisfied with the death of an SSG jurnail, in which they take secret pleasure, They take revenge on the "alleged" (did you bother to notice the use of word in my posts?) relatives of the said jurnail.
But this relationship that the beardo's mistook for "going steady" was actually more like a "one night stand" on behalf of the world pimp called "Unky Sam".
So, after the "Wham, Bam, thank you Imam" of the 70's, 80's and 90's , the Military and Unky Sam have moved on to juicier whores (India?) but the mullah's are still standing around, holding their bags of horse-shit wondering what happened to their tight virgin kootch, that they were 'saving for the rightful caliph'.
So, "till death do us part" it is for the beardos. I have no sympathy for either of these American whores. Military Junta, corrupt jurnails and the goddamned Beardo's who were the willing accomplices of these very same jurnails and the instrument's of Pakistan's destruction.
It is poetic justice that these two groups are now at each others throats, locked in a death grip.
Pakistan was lost through the actions of these two whores, and at least I will have the satisfaction of watching both of these evil entities destroy each other like the rabid dogs that they were trained to be for Master Zion.
For the record, I have no personal grudges against or love for this Gen. Alvi, but common decency demands that we don't torment the family of a dead person. That's just me the 'abusive' 'liberal fascist' talking here. Because I'm sure someone is going to quote me "Hazrat" Muavia now to tell me how it is okay to piss on a deadbody n all.
Also, we wouldn't have to waste our breath on this stupid debate, had not someone found it to be an opportune time to post two Jamatia articles in a row (and I thought this was a PML-N outfit... shows how much I know).
Not only that, that bravehearts at PKP who posted this article without disclosing the name of the author, later changed the name of the original islamist propaganda piece to the title "The story of General Alvi" from a much more accusatory and inflammatory (not to mention WRONG) title of "Traitors Amongst us? blah blah blah"
Dual citizenship of this guy is a hooooooooooo biiiiigggg problem but the fvcking chechens and uzbeks are MOOOZLUM BROOOZZZERS who must be catered to and allowed to screw Pakistan in the arse because they're fighting some dumba$$ "jihad" ... to what purpose,,, god only knows. But I'm supposed to trust the judgement of some dumb fvckwit beardo who has NO education (NOT EVEN DARS-E-NIZAMI) but he feels qualified to be a Qazi AND jallaad at the same time and if some actual aalim-e-deen dares to correct this dog, he shoots that aalim anyways.
I protest against this Klashnikov Islam!
Traitors amongst us? oh nooooo! not them beardo's ... they're the ones who will "protect us" (apparently from their zionist 100 layer deep handler networks -- for whose attack they provide justification and pretext)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH F*CKING HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Athens Riots -- What was old is new again!
Some new vigor is seen in these street protests. There are some new techniques being tried. One of which is throwing of paint on the riot cops which blinds them and if not cleaned immediately, congeals and renders the equipment useless or difficult to use.

Pakistanis come out in droves to support JuD - NOT!!!
Massive rally in support of Jamat-ud-Dafa :
I counted a venerable OCEAN of pakistani’s who came out in defence of this ‘charity’ that just happens to publish a weekly called “Ghazwa” with a brandished sword with articles in it preaching jihad ie; armed resistance within/without Pakistan.
I counted 51 people holding banners, and 25 ambulances. The numbers look right to me. on average an ambulance has a crew of 3.
Time to rethink strategies. Time to allow civilian control over foreign policy. Time to shutdown self-destructive outfits like JuD who do nothing but embarrass Pakistan and endanger Pakistan.

Priorities
The Pakistani nation spent Rs. 22 Billion "on ejjumakashun of his yungsturrz" for the WHOLE YEAR 2008 and spent approximately Rs 50 Billion on Qurbani animals on ONE SINGLE DAY of eid-ul-adha.
The day of sacrifice! We literaly sacrifice our young at the alter of... hmm god knows what the fuck we sacrifice our young for.
Here are the calcs (source Jang News and World Report Akhbar Thingamajiggy):
There are 5 million skins projected to be collected.
1 goat skin = Rs. 250 avg.
1 cow skin = Rs. 1200 avg.
Assume goat:cow ratio is 75:25 percent.
Total money pot = 3750000 * 250 + 1250000 * 1200 = 937500000 + 1500000000 = Rs. 2,437,500,000
Total money from this Eid skins = Rs. 2.5 Billion. (USD $32,939,189)
Total cost of qurbani animals (if skin is 10% of total animal) = Rs. 25 Billion.
Since the price of an animal's raw skin is around 5% of total cost, the total amount spent by Pakistani Muslims on this Baqr-Eid 2008 comes out to be around... are you sitting down?
Rs. 50 Billion (Fifty Billion/Urrab Rupees!!!!) in 1 DAY
Compare that to ....
Pakistan's Education budget for 2008 = Rs. 22 Billion? (I think)

Jizz in my Pants!
A tribute to the bay-laus majahideen of the 3rd kind. Idiots who have brought us to this predicament. Jiyala's of the PPP. Matwala's and the Groupies of Imran Khan. The "Jan Nisars" of Qazi. Jeezus Titty Fucking Christ!
Hey look!! The mumbai nanny speaks better english than our god-damned president!!
We are SO FUCKED!
One question that does come to mind is:
And in other news, Choudhry Ahmed Mukhtar (our hapless 'defense minister') makes a goddamned FOOL of himself on Indian TV. Why in the FUCK can't the Pakistani ministers get a fucking lesson in english? or speak in their mother-fucking mother-tongue? WHY???? WHY???? WHY must these idiots make dumb fools of themselves and us in front of the whole world?
Having such low comprehension skills in English, these idiots can't tell when a journalist is putting words in their mouths. Indian media is too smart for these a$$holes and having a field day with the pakistani government officials.
Nation, this is what happens when you neglect the education sector! YOU GET FUCKED !!!
All anyone can here is this douchebag repeating... "we're very sorry.. vee aawr weeeri saawree!"
The word "sorry" implies GUILT you fvcking fvckwad illiterate dipshits!!!! get a fvcking clue or get the fvck out of government! It seems to be too much for you morons!
We are SO FUCKED!
One question that does come to mind is:
If the nanny ran up to the baby and the baby was standing by the rabbi/wife ... why didn't all of them run away? Why did the rabbi and wife choose to stay? From her account it seems the 'atungwadi' were upstairs tending to their puja-paat before they got ready to meet shiv-ji (the commander of Shiv-Saina)

Was Mumbai a False Flag by a Hindu Suicide Squad?
I think the world needs to seriously consider the following possibility:
Is it possible that the Hindu Terrorist organizations in India -- taking a page from the original suicide bombers, the Tamil Tigers of Sri Lanka (whose terrorist operations the Indians openly support TO THIS DAY!!!!) -- have started doing suicide operations themselves?
This has been done before, and none others than the Hindu's (i.e., the Tamil 'tigers')
Were the mumbai attackers the first instance of HINDU SUICIDE TERRORISTS inside India? Who gave their lives for the bigger cause of destroying the arch enemey? Pakistan?

Baitullah Mehsud, Fazlullah ‘patriots’, says Army official.
Wait WHAT???
Yes, you heard it right! Apparently there ain't nuthin that can't be solved with some delishius dialogue.
And as a positive sign that this ceasefire offer may be accepted, the Pakistan Army has, as a first step, declared before the media some notorious militant commanders, including Baitullah Mehsud and Maulvi Fazlullah, as “patriotic” Pakistanis.
These two militant commanders are fighting the Army for the last four years and have invariably been accused of terrorism against Pakistan but the aftermath of the Mumbai carnage has suddenly turned terrorists into patriots.
A top security official told a group of senior journalists on Saturday: “We have no big issues with the militants in Fata. We have only some misunderstandings with Baitullah Mehsud and Fazlullah. These misunderstandings could be removed through dialogue.”
Aah... the sweet smell of fear!

Best ways to react to India's '9/11' | csmonitor.com
Best ways to react to India's '9/11' | csmonitor.com
And ...
Amen brother!
And ...
Both India and Pakistan know their abilities to uplift their poor would be hurt by another distracting confrontation. And with so many recent terrorist attacks within each country by a range of groups with grievances, the two nations need to find common ground. India now sees that a majority of Pakistanis are against global jihadists. And after this latest attack, it has every right to ask for information from Pakistan's military about likely groups behind the Mumbai assault, which may include Lashkar-i Tayyaba. If Pakistan's military does not cooperate with their civilian leaders, the US needs to use its leverage over that military and help India gain the reassurance that all Pakistani forces will not condone any sort of terrorism.
The last thing the world needs now is a unilateral attack by India on suspected terrorists inside Pakistani-held territory. While such an attack may seem morally similar to US attacks against Al Qaeda and the Taliban inside Pakistan, the history of war between the two neighbors – three since 1947 – would argue against such provocative action that could lead to nuclear war.
Amen brother!

11.26.208 The Mumbai Attacks
Call me crazy but I think this is payback for India fucking around in Afghanistan and stoking the fires in Western Pakistan. The last straw was probably the attack on Islamabad Marriott and I think it maybe ISI hitting back at the Indian economic interests because India has directly undermined Pakistan's economic interests by giving support to the Faux-Taliban in Pukhtunkhwa and the Baloch Liberation Army in Balochistan.
I'm of the conspiratorial opinion that the US and India are trying to break off a corridor in the west of Pakistan which they will use for Caspian transit pipelines. The pressure on Pakistan has increased after Russia put its foot down in Georgia. These attacks may be a reminder to the indians that we all sink or swim together? I dunno... this sounds fishy. I mean "Deccan Mujahiddin" !!!! give me a friggin break!
Here is a link to the Bloomberg article, and some excerpts below:
Obviously, they wouldn't hit western interests directly, ie Bangalore because that would bring down the hammer from their masters, erm, allies i.e., The United States and the other western gangster powers.
FDI increased to 14.6 billion eh? at the same time when Pakistan is about to fucking default because no-one wants to invest there anymore because... wait for it.... yes... because of suspicious terrorist activity which seems to be coordinated by the Indians.
Seriously, WHAT.THE.FUCK is India thinking? I think they're thinking exactly what the fucking morons in Zia's regime thought in the 80's, ie; there won't be any blowback even if they fucked up their neighbour to the west.
I think that FAT FUCK kissinger was right when he said that being America's friend is worse than being on it's shitlist. I believe India thinks it just made a new friend recently... no?
P.S. Marvi Memon can suck my dick any fucking day.

Tourism, Investment
The attacks may impact on tourism, which climbed 10 percent in the first nine months of the year to 3.87 million visitors, generating $8.8 billion in revenue, according to government figures. Foreign direct investment into the country more than doubled between April and August to $14.6 billion.

Well, I'm not surprised. Are you? Kudos to Ansar Abbasi for the hard hitting, investigative journalism that seems to be sorely lacking in the Pakistani media.
This is the same judge who stood by a military dictator, who gained exorbitant loans illegaly, at ridiculously low rates (8.9 million?) And not to mention the prime land that he was bribed with for his heinous and illegal support of the illegal regime of Musharraf and his illegal and treasonous acts of Nov 3rd 2007.
What else can be expected from a daughter who has such an illustrious a father! One thing that our kleptocrats fail to recognize is that History will NEVER FORGIVE them! Just like history has not forgiven Judas, Mir Jaffer and Mir Saadiq types, it will never forget the likes of Musharraf, Zia, Dogar and Zardari.
From Ansar Abbasi's Article:
And it's not like the PM House, or other higher ups did not try to influence the management of Jang group and or the correspondent. What goddamned shame! What a nation of vultures we are.

From Ansar Abbasi's Article:
In indecent haste and under direct written orders of the chairman FBISE, relaxing and violating all rules and even some judgments of the Supreme Court, the FSc result of student Farah Hameed Dogar was jacked up from 640 marks in Grade 'C' to 661 marks in Grade 'B', thus making her eligible to apply for admission into any medical college in the country.
Documentary evidence available with The News, background interviews and on the record discussions with concerned officials of the FBISE establish that the Islamabad Board went out of its way in the case of Farah Hameed Dogar by fast forwarding the entire process of re-checking, re-assessing and even re-marking her examination papers to her advantage and superceding thousands of other candidates who had obtained marks between 642 and 660.
However, the documents reveal, that on September 13, the examiner of English paper Munir Hussain Anjum of F G College for Men, H-9 Islamabad, reassessed the paper and increased the marks from the previous 58 to 67; the examiner of Urdu paper Dr Ale-Azhaur Aanis of F G Sir Syed College Rawalpindi reassessed the paper and increased the marks from the previous 62 to 67; and the examiner of Physics paper Ejaz Ahmad in his re-assessment increased the marks from the previous 32 to the pre sent 38.
After this extraordinary addition of numbers after re-marking, the file moved upward from one desk to the higher desk and reached the chairman's office for approval. The recommendation for the chairman was: 'Due to above change, marks have been enhanced and result position will be of 661 marks instead of previous 640 marks. The case is forwarded for consideration marks and having approval of enhancement of marks from 640 to 661 in relaxation of existing rules (Vol-II) as directed, please.'

More "Islamist" CUNTS with links to Mossad get caught.
Fucking douchebag retards still campaigning to 'negotiate' with the indian/zionist/mossad agents (with beards of course).
Attack on U.S. Embassy in Yemen Linked to Mossad
Well surprise fucking surprise.
But don't tell it to that goat fucker Qazi or his bitch Imran Khan, because these two cunts are back on the tour of the country trying to rile up a battered public in another zionist serving 'tehreek' against a barely functional democratic setup.
The same dick wad cuntbag who waited out Musharraf's 9 years of NATIONAL ASSRAPE while endorsing his fucking 17th amendment, is already on the fucking move riling people up for a destabilization initiative.
God these goatfuckers ought to be flogged. Along with the rest of the fucknuts who are supposed to be our 'ruling elite'.
I can't wait for the fucking day when we run short of firing squads executing these fuckers for days on end.
Attack on U.S. Embassy in Yemen Linked to Mossad
President Saleh revealed on Monday that security forces in Yemen caught an espionage network for Israel made up of Arab nationals. This announcement came during his speech in front of MP's, Shura Council members, local council members, scholars and military and security leaders at Hadhramout University.
Well surprise fucking surprise.

Pakistani Media: Confusing the FUCK out of people every time we need these fuckers the most!
The headline says 15kg of explosives. Just 2 items down it says 1000 kg. How in the fuck you mix up 15 kg with 1000 kg can only be understood if you realize that most pakistani print media consist of rabbit brained dickwads who don't have the fucking common sense to do bare minimum checks on the goddamned garbage that they keep printing.
Fucking idiots! (oh and some are claiming it is Pakistan's 9-11) ... yeah and Pakistan will deal with it in it's customary be-ghairat fashion. Half the idiots will claim we need to negotiate with the taliban because they are cute and cuddly koala bears who are just misunderstood. One guy called Imran Khan will claim this wasn't happening until 2004, so it must not be happening now either. 80% of illiterates known as 'the educated people' will applaud this non-sensical stand and get in line to give immi-bhai a handjob while making jokes about the muhajir chauvanists lining up nearby to give altaa-bhai a similar handjob.
Zardari will spew more bullshit, the other 50 percent will blame it on not following Islam rigourously enough and resolve to grow their unkempt beards even longer.

Because there are no Jews in Pakistan...
Editor's Notes: Because there are no Jews in Pakistan... | Columnists | Jerusalem Post
When I told him about Israel's concerns over Iran's nuclear program, and our concerns, too, of what might become of neighboring Pakistan's nukes if instability deepened in his country, he assured me gravely that Pakistan had never conceived of Israel as a nuclear target and told me a little hesitantly of reports back home that Israel might seek to strike at Pakistan's nuclear facilities. He looked relieved when I waved away the notion.
But he waved away Israel's anxieties, too, about extremism in his country and the prospect of those nukes falling into irresponsible hands. Asif Zardari, Pakistan's new president, has a reputation both for corruption and psychiatric problems. Pakistan has already produced the world's leading rogue nuclear sales entrepreneur in A.Q. Khan. Meanwhile, al-Qaida in Pakistan is reportedly making notable gains in its battle against the government.

September 11 - Nevar Forget!
1973 Chilean coup d'état
The Chilean coup d'état of 1973 was a watershed event in the history of Chile and the Cold War. Historians and partisans alike have wrangled over its implications ever since.
On September 11, 1973, less than two months after the first failed coup attempt (Tanquetazo), and less than a month after the Chamber of Deputies, where the Opposition held a majority, condemned Allende's alleged breaches of the constitution, the Chilean military overthrew president Salvador Allende, who died during the coup. US intervention in Chilean politics and support to opponents of Allende, including support for an assassination, has been documented by the declassification in 1998 of documents concerning the Project FUBELT operations, although its exact nature is still controversial. General Augusto Pinochet took over and established an anti-communist military dictatorship which lasted until 1990.
It has sometimes been argued that the removal of the democratically-elected socialist Allende by the US-backed Pinochet, among other factors, led the Soviet Union to partially step away from détente, and pursue a more ambitious foreign policy concerning Third World influence. As such the coup may have had a considerable geopolitical impact.
The Coup:
On September 11, 1973, by 7:00 AM, the Navy took over Valparaíso, stationing ships and marines in strategic places throughout the central coast and closing down all radio and TV networks. The prefect of the province called Allende to inform him of the mysterious actions by the Navy. Allende immediately left for the presidential palace together with his personal bodyguards (Grupo de Amigos Personales, GAP). By 8:00 AM, the Army had silenced many TV and radio stations in Santiago, while others were bombed by the Air Force. The information that reached Allende was still very sketchy, and he was convinced the coup was by a "sector" of the Navy.
Allende and his Minister of Defense, Orlando Letelier, fruitlessly attempted to contact the leaders of the Armed Forces. Admiral Montero, the commander of the Navy and a loyalist, had had his telephone lines cut and his cars sabotaged before the coup began to ensure he did not interfere in the coup. The leadership of the Navy was transferred to second-in-command and coup-planner José Toribio Merino. Augusto Pinochet, General of the Army, and Gustavo Leigh, General of the Air Force, did not respond to Allende's phone calls. The General Director of Carabineros (uniformed police), José María Sepúlveda, and the head of the Investigations Police (plainclothed detectives), Alfredo Joignant, were the only ones who responded to Allende and went immediately to La Moneda. When Letelier arrived at the Ministry of Defense, controlled by Admiral Patricio Carvajal, he was immediately arrested: the first prisoner during the coup.

You remember the old days:
In the cool of the evening
Under a bamboo roof
Propped on soft cushions stuffed with fine wool
We'd sip tea ( a tea I've never since tasted)
Among friends….
…
then a cackling explodes
from the long grass and date palms-
the jackal's wedding!
…
today isn't yesterday
(truth is as evanescent as the dream of a child)-
truth is, this time we're at their wedding reception,
yes, the jackal's wedding
you've read their invitation:
…
I'll go in your place
(Damascus is too far away from that secret hotel…)
I'll spit in the jackal's faces,
I'll spit on their lists,
I'll declare that we are the people of Iraq-
We are the ancestral trees of this land,
Proud beneath our modest roof of bamboo.

Democracy is coming! ...
Music Videos by VideoCure
Democracy (By Leonard Cohen)
It's coming through a hole in the air,
from those nights in Tiananmen Square.
It's coming from the feel
that this ain't exactly real,
or it's real, but it ain't exactly there.
From the wars against disorder,
from the sirens night and day,
from the fires of the homeless,
from the ashes of the gay:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
It's coming through a crack in the wall;
on a visionary flood of alcohol;
from the staggering account
of the Sermon on the Mount
which I don't pretend to understand at all.
It's coming from the silence
on the dock of the bay,
from the brave, the bold, the battered
heart of Chevrolet:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
It's coming from the sorrow in the street,
the holy places where the races meet;
from the homicidal bitchin'
that goes down in every kitchen
to determine who will serve and who will eat.
From the wells of disappointment
where the women kneel to pray
for the grace of God in the desert here
and the desert far away:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
Sail on, sail on
O mighty Ship of State!
To the Shores of Need
Past the Reefs of Greed
Through the Squalls of Hate
Sail on, sail on, sail on, sail on.
It's coming to America first,
the cradle of the best and of the worst.
It's here they got the range
and the machinery for change
and it's here they got the spiritual thirst.
It's here the family's broken
and it's here the lonely say
that the heart has got to open
in a fundamental way:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
It's coming from the women and the men.
O baby, we'll be making love again.
We'll be going down so deep
the river's going to weep,
and the mountain's going to shout Amen!
It's coming like the tidal flood
beneath the lunar sway,
imperial, mysterious,
in amorous array:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.
Sail on, sail on ...
I'm sentimental, if you know what I mean
I love the country but I can't stand the scene.
And I'm neither left or right
I'm just staying home tonight,
getting lost in that hopeless little screen.
But I'm stubborn as those garbage bags
that Time cannot decay,
I'm junk but I'm still holding up
this little wild bouquet:
Democracy is coming to the U.S.A.

East Pakistan Vs. Punjab (Parallels?)
Reading "War and Secession: Pakistan, India and the Creation of Bangladesh", and finding alarming and disturbing similarities in the way things unfolded in the east. The reactions (and obstinacy) of Mujib seem eerily similar to how Nawaz Sharif is steering the ship currently.
To understand Zardari's attitude better (ie; what "bibi taught him") look at this quote in that book, this is Zulfikar Bhutto speaking to an Italian writer Oriana Fallaci:
To understand Zardari's attitude better (ie; what "bibi taught him") look at this quote in that book, this is Zulfikar Bhutto speaking to an Italian writer Oriana Fallaci:
Politics is movement per se--a politician should be mobile. He should sway now to right and now to left; he should come up with contradictions, doubts. He should change continually, test things, attack from every side so as to single out his opponent's weak point and strike at it. Woe to him if he focuses immediately on his basic concept, woe if he reveals and crystallizes it. Woe if he blocks the maneuver by which to throw hi opponent on the carpet. Apparent inconsistency is the prime virtue of the intelligent man and the astute politician.

Long March Deniers: Look Aginn!!!
Millions of unarmed Kashmiris are marching peacefully to assert their basic human rights against the obscene and inhuman policy of the Indian government and the Hindu fanatics (just as bad as - rather worse than - the Muslim fanatics AFAIAC!)
And all this is a direct consequence of the Lawyers struggle in Pakistan and the historic long march! Look at the faces of these people. They are young men. They are risen with a new vigor.
None can stop them.
The best is yet to come, you little 'instant gratification' babies!

I knew this was going to happen as soon as every fucking asshole started to parrot the goddamned "48 hour" line.
What. In. the. Fuck. Is. It. With. These. 48hr. Deadliners. ???
This must be the forty fucking eighth time that at least one of these idiots has claimed with authority that this dickface is going to resign 'within 48 hours'.
Next time, when you hear one of these idiots repeat the 48 hour lines.. just change the channel?

How the ChooBoys (think they) will Punish Russia ?
By manipulating the price of oil of course. But the thing is, the situation is quickly slipping out of their hands.

Why Musharraf MUST NOT BE ALLOWED to leave.
He knows a lot of state secrets and he MUST NOT be allowed to leave. If he is forgiven or even given a slap on the wrist, he MUST be kept in protective custody. Otherwise, who knows, he might sell the location of our nuclear assets to our enemies so they can 'extract' them as they please.
NO SAFE PASSAGE FOR MUSHARRAF!
I hope the idiots in our 'coalition' realize his importance as a key source for intelligence against the Pakistani state. And if anyone thinks he will not do it, they got another think comin'.

Ethno-Fascists show their true colors
"One must not leave a friend alone in an hour of need"
A friend in need, is a friend indeed. Now we know what this "Qaumi" movement stands for and for what "Qaum". Obviously it is not the Pakistani Qaum that they're referring to in that name.

UPDATE: So they abstained in the final showdown along with the Amin Fahim sympathizers. But it was only after Americans and the Army made a tactical retreat from supporting musharraf. Fare Well Mahmoud Darwish (and Edward Said)
Edward Said: A Contrapuntal Reading
(In a poem published in Arabi, Mahmoud Darwish bids Edward Said farewell)
------------------
New York/ November/ Fifth Avenue
The sun a plate of shredded metal
I asked myself, estranged in the shadow:
Is it Babel or Sodom?
***
There, on the doorstep of an electric abyss,
high as the sky, I met Edward,
thirty years ago,
time was less wild then...
We both said:
If the past is only an experience,
make of the future a meaning and a vision.
Let us go,
Let us go into tomorrow trusting
the candor of imagination and the miracle of grass/
***
I don't recall going together to the cinema
in the evening. Still I heard Ancient
Indians calling: Trust
neither horse, nor modernity
***
No. Victims do not ask their executioner:
Am I you? Had my sword been
bigger than my rose, would you
have asked
if I would have acted like you?
***
A question like that entices the curiosity
of a novelist,
sitting in a glass office, overlooking
lilies in the garden, where
the hand
of a hypothesis is as clear as
the conscience
of a novelist set to settle accounts
with
human instinct... There is no tomorrow
in yesterday, so let us advance/
***
Advancing could be a bridge
leading back
to Barbarism...
***
New York. Edward wakes up to
a lazy dawn. He plays
Mozart.
Runs round the university's tennis
court.
Thinks of the journey of ideas across
borders,
and over barriers. He reads the New York Times.
Writes out his furious comments. Curses an Orientalist
guiding the General to the weak point
inside the heart of an Oriental woman.
He showers. Chooses his elegant suit.
Drinks his white coffee. Shouts at the dawn:
Do not loiter.
***
On wind he walks, and in wind
he knows himself. There is no ceiling for the wind,
no home for the wind. Wind is the compass
of the stranger's North.
He says: I am from there, I am from here,
but I am neither there nor here.
I have two names which meet and part...
I have two languages, but I have long forgotten
which is the language of my dreams.
I have an English language, for writing,
with yielding phrases,
and a language in which Heaven and
Jerusalem converse, with a silver cadence,
but it does not yield to my imagination.
***
What about identity? I asked.
He said: It's self-defence...
Identity is the child of birth, but
at the end, it's self-invention, and not
an inheritance of the past. I am multiple...
Within me an ever new exterior. And
I belong to the question of the victim. Were I not
from there, I would have trained my heart
to nurture there deers of metaphor...
So carry your homeland wherever you go, and be
a narcissist if need be/
The outside world is exile,
exile is the world inside.
And what are you between the two?
***
Myself, I do not know
so that I shall not lose it. I am what I am.
I am my other, a duality
gaining resonance in between speech and gesture.
Were I to write poetry I would have said:
I am two in one,
like the wings of a swallow ,
content with bringing good omen
when spring is late.
***
He loves a country and he leaves.
[Is the impossible far off?]
He loves leaving to things unknown.
By traveling freely across cultures
those in search of the human essence
may find a space for all to sit...
Here a margin advances. Or a centre
retreats. Where East is not strictly east,
and West is not strictly west,
where identity is open onto plurality,
not a fort or a trench/
***
Metonymy was sleeping on the river's bank;
had it not been for the pollution
it could have embraced the other bank.
***
- Have you written any novels?
I tried... I tried to retrieve
my image from mirrors of distant women.
But they scampered off into their guarded night.
Saying: Our world is independent of any text.
A man cannot write a woman who is both enigma and dream.
A woman cannot write a man who is both symbol and star.
There are no two loves alike. No two nights
alike. So let us enumerate men's qualities
and laugh.
- And what did you do?
I laughed at my nonsense
and threw the novel
into the wastepaper basket/
***
The intellectual harnesses what the novelist can tell
and the philosopher interprets the bard's roses/
***
He loves a country and he leaves:
I am what I am and shall be.
I shall choose my place by myself,
and choose my exile. My exile, the backdrop
to an epic scene. I defend
the poet's need for memories and tomorrow,
I defend country and exile
in tree-clad birds,
and a moon, generous enough
to allow the writing of a love poem;
I defend an idea shattered by the frailty
of its partisans
and defend a country hijacked by myths/
***
- Will you be able to return to anything?
My ahead pulls what's behind and hastens...
There is no time left in my watch for me to scribble lines
on the sand. I can, however, visit yesterday
as strangers do when they listen
on a sad evening to a Pastorale:
"A girl by the spring filling her jar
"With clouds' tears,
"Weeping and laughing as a bee
"Stings her heart...
"Is it love that makes the water ache
"Or some sickness in the mist..."
[until the end of the song].
***
- So, nostalgia can hit you?
Nostalgia for a higher, more distant tomorrow,
far more distant. My dream leads my steps.
And my vision places my dream
on my knees
like a pet cat. It's the imaginary real,
the child of will: We can
change the inevitability of the abyss.
***
- And nostalgia for yesterday?
A sentiment not fit for an intellectual, unless
it is used to spell out the stranger's fervour
for that which negates him.
My nostalgia is a struggle
over a present which has tomorrow
by the balls.
***
- Did you not sneak into yesterday when
you went to that house, your house
in Talbiya, in Jerusalem?
I prepared myself to sleep
in my mother's bed, like a child
who's scared of his father. I tried
to recall my birth, and
to watch the Milky Way from the roof of my old
house. I tried to stroke the skin
of absence and the smell of summer
in the garden's jasmine. But the hyena that is truth
drove me away from a thief-like
nostalgia.
- Were you afraid? What frightened you?
I could not meet loss face
to face. I stood by the door like a beggar.
How could I ask permission from strangers sleeping
in my own bed... Ask them if I could visit myself
for five minutes? Should I bow in respect
to the residents of my childish dream? Would they ask:
Who is that prying foreign visitor? And how
could I talk about war and peace
among the victims and the victims' victims,
without additions, without an interjection?
And would they tell me: There is no place for two dreams
in one bedroom?
***
It is neither me nor him
who asks; it is a reader asking:
What can poetry say in a time of catastrophe?
***
Blood
and blood,
blood
in your country,
in my name and in yours, in
the almond flower, in the banana skin,
in the baby's milk, in light and shadow,
in the grain of wheat, in salt/
***
Adept snipers, hitting their target
with maximum proficiency.
Blood and blood
and blood.
This land is smaller than the blood of its children
standing on the threshold of doomsday like
sacrificial offerings. Is this land truly
blessed, or is it baptised
in blood
and blood
and blood
which neither prayer, nor sand can dry.
There is not enough justice in the Sacred Book
to make martyrs rejoice in their freedom
to walk on cloud. Blood in daylight,
blood in darkness. Blood in speech.
***
He says: The poem could host
loss, a thread of light shining
at the heart of a guitar; or a Christ
on a horse pierced through with beautiful metaphors. For
the aesthetic is but the presence of the real
in form/
In a world without a sky, the earth
becomes an abyss. The poem,
a consolation, an attribute
of the wind, southern or northern.
Do not describe what the camera can see
of your wounds. And scream that you may hear yourself,
and scream that you may know you're still alive,
and alive, and that life on this earth is
possible. Invent a hope for speech,
invent a direction, a mirage to extend hope.
And sing, for the aesthetic is freedom/
***
I say: The life which cannot be defined
except by death is not a life.
***
He says: We shall live.
So let us be masters of words which
make their readers immortal -- as your friend
Ritsos said.
***
He also said: If I die before you,
my will is the impossible.
I asked: Is the impossible far off?
He said: A generation away.
I asked: And if I die before you?
He said: I shall pay my condolences to Mount Galilee,
and write, "The aesthetic is to reach
poise." And now, don't forget:
If I die before you, my will is the impossible.
***
When I last visited him in New Sodom,
in the year Two Thousand and Two, he was battling off
the war of Sodom on the people of Babel...
and cancer. He was like the last epic hero
defending the right of Troy
to share the narrative.
***
An eagle soaring higher and higher
bidding farewell to his height,
for dwelling on Olympus
and over heights
is tiresome.
***
Farewell,
farewell poetry of pain.

And sing, for the aesthetic is freedom/

I say: The life which cannot be defined
except by death is not a life.

He says: We shall live.
So let us be masters of words which
make their readers immortal -- as your friend
Ritsos said.

When I last visited him in New Sodom,
in the year Two Thousand and Two, he was battling off
the war of Sodom on the people of Babel...
and cancer. He was like the last epic hero
defending the right of Troy
to share the narrative.

Dear Georgia, The "Sixth Fleet" is on its way!
Time for America's new bitches to learn a lesson from the old whore on the block:
America will NEVER help you in your hour of need, even though you whore yourselves to them for generations.

“What the Russians just did is, for the first time since the fall of the Soviet Union, they have taken a decisive military action and imposed a military reality,” said George Friedman, chief executive of Stratfor, a geopolitical analysis and intelligence company. “They’ve done it unilaterally, and all of the countries that have been looking to the West to intimidate the Russians are now forced into a position to consider what just happened.”
And Bush administration officials acknowledged that the outside world, and the United States in particular, had little leverage over Russian actions.
“There is no possibility of drawing NATO or the international community into this,” said a senior State Department official in a conference call with reporters.
That, I suppose, is "The Way of the World" as it were.

FUCK YOU "Telegraph" !!!!
Analysis: President Pervez Musharraf's last gasp shows how West has failed - Telegraph:
And the douchebag goes on to chide the Army Chief for "staying neutral" further confirming my suspicions that Europe only understands the language of a FOOT firmly planted in it's rear. Everything and everyone else they use as a disposable mean to their own god-damned fucked up ends.
the "kicker":
"Last year, Mr Musharraf embarked on a series of hubris-driven, auto- destructive blunders that included sacking the chief justice and imposing a state of emergency.
The deal's other chief protagonist, Benazir Bhutto, was assassinated, as was widely predicted would happen, in December. Since then Mr Musharraf and Ms Bhutto's distrusted and discredited widower and political successor, Asif Zardari, have failed to reach agreement on how to govern."

the "kicker":
The focus is now on the chief of army staff, General Ashfaq Kayani, who has made the well-intentioned, but perhaps ill-fated, statement that he will keep the army out of politics.
